iconectiv Toll-Free Numbering Experts Appointed as North American Numbering Council (NANC) Representatives

Mike Gilbert and John Malyar Join the U.S. Federal Advisory Committee’s Toll Free: Utilization of Numbers Working Group

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – October 10, 2023iconectiv, a trusted partner of the communications industry, announced the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has selected iconectiv Senior Account Director Mike Gilbert and Senior Director Industry Solutions John Malyar to serve on the rechartered North American Numbering Council (NANC) during its next term, beginning September 2023. NANC is the Federal Advisory Committee created to guide the FCC on numbering matters and make recommendations to encourage unbiased and efficient number administration based on industry best practices.

Toll-free numbers have consistently been one of the most convenient, trusted and widely used ways that consumers interact with businesses and other organizations. As such, it is imperative that the integrity of the channel remains intact for businesses and consumers alike.

Gilbert and Malyar will serve on the Federal Advisory Committee’s Toll Free: Utilization of Numbers Working Group through September 2025. As toll-free numbering experts, both draw from their extensive technical and regulatory experience to help the working group address unbiased toll-free numbering initiatives.  

In addition to his new position with NANC, Gilbert serves as the ATIS SMS/800 Number Administration Committee (SNAC) co-chair. Gilbert, who has more than 40 years’ of telecom and engineering experience, is responsible for iconectiv’s TruReach Toll-Free 8MS®, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) that more than 100 service providers and RespOrgs rely on for provisioning, text enablement, least-cost routing and business continuity.

Malyar has been a leader at iconectiv in the development and deployment of telecommunications systems for more than 40 years.  Currently, he is responsible for interfacing with multiple industry groups and the security governance efforts that support iconectiv as the LNP Administrator. Malyar has also led teams responsible for iconectiv’s Number Management System (NMS), ENUM and Number Portability (NP) Solutions, covering both US and international markets, and has been awarded patents in Intelligent Network and Number Portability applications.
